Errand into the Wilderness by Perry Miller

According to Amazon.com reviews, Perry Miller’s Errand into the Wilderness is a book containing ten essays, on American colonial history. Most of the essays talk about Puritans, their religious believes and values. With essays titles such as "The Puritan State and Puritan Society," it seems to discuss the Puritan believe that they could purify or perfect humanity.

Errand into the Wilderness sounds like an interesting read, especially for one who is seeking to understand the Puritan culture and their influence in our modern society. One review on Amazon.com states that this is a good beginners book, and a good starting point to understand “the Puritan experience.” The reviews also seem to agree that it can be a difficult read, but well written and entertaining to most interested in the subject.

  1. I also find the Puritan culture very interesting. I never fully understood how much of a role this has played in our development. It is clear as well that other part of the world also have had and still do have religion dominate their societies.
